Marblehead has often been referred to as "the sailing capital" of the world, and Corinthian Yacht Club has made significant contributions toward that distinction. For more than 125 years, the CYC has made racing and cruising history, for which all members can be truly proud.
Our tradition
The CYC was founded to foster and support an environment for competitive small-boat sailing. Through robust racing and sailing programs for all ages and levels of abilities, members continue to honor this tradition. A variety of courses and programs are available to members to assist in their enjoyment on the water as well as further their knowledge and skill. Visit our Adult Sailing page.
Team and Fleet Racing
Team and fleet racing offers members and visiting skippers a broad range of racing events year-round. Racing calendars are coordinated with other yacht clubs and organizations in Marblehead Harbor. One-design racing is facilitated through the Marblehead Racing Association (MRA), and handicap racing occurs under ORR-ez, PHRF and IRC handicapping through the Massachusetts Bay Sailing Association.
Visit Racing or Education Programs pages for programs to further racing knowledge, skills and experience.
Corinthian Coastal Cruising
Corinthian Coastal Cruising provides opportunities for all members (power and sail) who would like to venture beyond the local buoys, be it to nearby Manchester Harbor, Boston, Maine or other New England ports. The goal is to enjoy being on the water and visit welcoming and interesting ports of call as well as gathering friends and family for rafting parties and other social events. Cruisers support each other’s efforts to safely make their way by sharing technical navigational and on-water experience.
Visit Adult Sailing page for details on cruising-related courses and activities.
Recreational sailing
Recreational sailing and lessons are offered for members of all ages and abilities who are interested in getting out on the water. Programs include Sonar Family Sundays, Wednesday Adventure Cruising, and Friday Evening Pursuits, as well as private sailing lessons. Sonar charters are also available to members.
Junior Sailing
Junior Sailing at the CYC has long fostered a passion for being on the water and learning to harness the wind for children ages 7 to 17. Classes are held throughout the summer and are open to both members and non-members on the CYC's Prams, Optimists, and Sonars. Visit Education Programs pages for details on junior sailing courses and activities.
