June 5th to September 7th, 2020
Is your boat all dressed up and ready to go with no race in sight? How about an alternative to racing that avoids the line at the crane, the launch rush, and the pileup at the leeward mark? How about a day on the boat where you decide the course length and when to start? Looking for an adventure to take on by yourself or with a household-based crew? The Corinthian Time Trials have arrived.
The rules are simple. All sailboats are welcome to set a reference time around any one of our three courses. Boats may attempt to set an outright course record or improve upon their personal best times during daylight hours between June 5th to Labor Day.
We will publish and maintain a leaderboard documenting all completed attempts. Additional classes and subcategories will be established as more boats participate.
All three courses start and finish between Chandler Hovey Light and the “1MH” buoy.
· The Children’s Island Course – approximately 2.6 nautical miles
· The Halfway Rock Course – approximately 5.4 nautical miles
· The Newcomb-Bakers Course – approximately 10 nautical miles
Registration and course specifics are detailed in the Sailing Instructions. There is no entry fee. For safety we ask that you email a ‘float plan’ to CYC Sailing Director Kevin Dooley at firstname.lastname@example.org before heading out and report your finish time upon return.
Club Sonars may be chartered to CYC members on the skippers list for-time trial attempts.
We encourage everyone participating to share their adventures with some form of on-board-reporting. We’ll post the best submissions in future editions of our Sailing Newsletters.
Good Luck and Sail Safe!
